Pet Portrait Commissions
Remember your pet for a lifetime with a custom pencil portrait.A one-of-a-kind pet portrait is the perfect way to remember your furry friend. It also makes a meaningful gift for a loved one to show them you care, especially if they have had to say goodbye to a beloved pet.
Follow the five steps below to book your pet portrait!
Example of a matted 8x10" portrait
Step 1: Select a size
- 8x10” portrait with 11x14” mat — CA$450 (US$330)
- 11x14” portrait with 16x20” mat — CA$800 (US$585)
Shipping is free with every commission. I also provide discounts to clients who book more than one portrait at a time (shown below Step 5).
Step 2: Choose one or two subjects
- 8x10” portraits can only have one subject.
- 11x14" portraits can have one or two subjects. However, there is an additional fee of CA$250 (US$180) for the second pet, and the portrait orientation generally needs to be horizontal to fit two pets.
Step 3: Select a blank or detailed background
The above prices are for portraits with blank white backgrounds. For detailed backgrounds, an extra fee will be charged based on portrait size:
- 8x10” portrait with detailed background — additional CA$150 (US$110)
- 11x14” portrait with detailed background — additional CA$250 (US$180)
Step 4: Choose a reference photo
- Close-up picture of your pet’s face — this ensures clarity that is crucial when drawing detail
- Natural lighting without any drastic shadows — photos taken outdoors usually capture more detail
- Clear, unedited photos — I can always edit them myself to bring out detail or remove backgrounds if needed
- Direct eye contact with the camera — this is not always necessary, but it can help capture the animal’s personality and give the portrait a spark of life!
Occasionally, I may request clearer photos if I think the ones you sent may not work well. If no clearer photos can be sent, there is a chance I may need to decline your commission. However, I will do my best to work with the photos you send. Remember, the quality of the reference photo determines the detail of the drawing.

Once I begin, the amount of time it takes me to complete your portrait may vary slightly depending on size, number of subjects, and background detail, but generally, it should be finished and awaiting your approval within a few weeks.
